Bed bugs can go hungry for a week or more between blood meals and they can survive for many months without a blood meal.

Bed bugs are nocturnal, meaning they are most active at night, making it difficult to spot them or spray them with chemicals or pesticides during the day.

Bed bugs are not limited to the bed or bedroom and will disperse throughout a dwelling and will crawl considerable distance to get a meal from your blood.

Bed bugs like to hitch rides on anyone and anything. In most – if not all – situations, bed bugs are transported into a building in the luggage, clothing and belongings of guests and visitors.

Clothing, shoes, purses, and luggage are all potential vehicles for bed bugs to move between rooms, buildings, or cities.

Public transportation – buses, planes, subway, trains - can transmit bed bugs readily because many people don’t know they have an infestation until it is already severe.
